Old Glory

The Flag of United States of America is one that is instantly recognizable. Thirteen horizontal bars represent the original rebellious colonies, and a field of stars over a blue background for the states. Since it was adopted in 1777, the number of stars has grown from thirteen to fifty. A different version of Old Glory exists for every period states were added, with the current version being in use since Hawaii became a state in 1960. Frequently, the field of stars came in several different arrangements. Authentic thirteen-star flags from around the Revolutionary War, for instance, are rare and potentially worth millions. This remains a very popular design and a vintage/antique flag with thirteen stars is not difficult to find. Condition and age influence value, which can range from hundreds to tens of thousands for authentic flags.
