This warrior head sundial which is dated 1942, was owned by the Scharschug family which resided in River Forest, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. George Joseph Scharschug was the Editor of the Chicago Tribune and was deeply involved in the Chicago political landscape. There are two documents in the Library of Congress between Mr. Scharsburg and President Theodore Roosevelt in 1915. The metal stand does not appear to be original. It most likely had a marble base at one time. 26”wide by 28 ¾” tall.
